Description
A piece of dramaturgy born from the actors’ creative work together with Claudio De Maglio. Through situational comedy, the company tackles some very topical issues, including the power of property speculation and corrupt politics, the freedom to choose one’s own future, and caring for one’s land. It is a day like any other. Friariello, a simple farmer, finds himself targeted by Pantalon De Borghia, a greedy property developer, and Dott. Graiano d’Asti, a politician easily swayed by corruption. That same day Florenzia, the developer’s daughter, returns home: after many years travelling in search of her freedom, she is forced to come back, having run through all the money her father gave her.
A dynamic, fresh, moving and funny show that has also won over international audiences. The actors are always on stage: their ability to play both on and off the stage captivates the audience in a relentless rhythm of events, lazzi, live music, sounds, poetry and fine acting. It is the pure play of theatre made by actors that creates the magic and beauty of this show. Ten years after the Nuovi Scalzi production and its great success, internationally too, this Ridiculosa Commedia is renewed by a cast of young actors under 35, whose fresh performances come alive under the guidance of Claudio De Maglio and Savino Maria Italiano: a true passing of the baton, to be carefully guarded and welcomed with trust and enthusiasm. The language of the Commedia dell’Arte, the expressive language of the body and the masks, live music and games with the audience, with no fourth wall, take precedence even over the text, making the show suitable for international audiences of all ages.
